Our Curriculum Vision

At King's Sutton Primary Academy, we want our children to enjoy a safe and happy school life that offers the very best quality of education through a broad curriculum design that develops the whole character of the child.

Our vision is that all of our children are inspired and ambitious for the person they can become. This will allow them to take their place as responsible citizens, who care for themselves and those around them, in a modern day British society.

As a school, we provide pupils with meaningful opportunities to understands how to be responsible, respectful, active citizens who contribute positively to society. We teach this vision through the three core values of Achieve, Inspire, Respect, which are our golden threads running through the curriculum.

Our Curriculum Intent is to give our pupils these opportunities to achieve across the curriculum:

  • To have our school values of Achieve, Inspire and Respect as golden threads that run through the curriculum and give children the knowledge and understanding of achievements from a range of communities and individuals from the past and present. To have a deepening respect for a diverse range of communities across society and to understand how we take our place in modern Britain. To show respect and understanding towards others and the environment.

  • The curriculum will be inclusive and all pupils will have the opportunity to have meaningful outcomes linked to need.

  • To have opportunities to discuss and debate issues within the curriculum to form their own opinions and ideas.

  • To be regularly challenged through questioning to develop their understanding and thinking and to give them the confidence to believe and have a growth mindset.

  • To be given opportunities to problem solve and use reasoning skills.

  • To ensure that the curriculum is as broad and balanced as it can be across all subjects so that children get experience of a wide range of subjects and to be inspired by significant individuals across the curriculum such as artists, scientists and composers.
  • For the PSHE and values education to be robust, enhanced and to teach the children safety so that they can be prepared to stay safe now and for the next stage of their education.
  • For the behaviour policy to be specifically linked to learning behaviour.
  • For the school and British values to be promoted in all aspects of school life.

Should you wish to find out anything further about our curriculum, then please do not hesitate to contact the Head Teacher. Click on the overview below to find out more.

Our Curriculum is underpinned by the learning that takes place in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). It is here that our children begin their learning journey that gets them school ready for the Year 1 curriculum and beyond. We have given consideration to how the EYFS curriculum prepares the children, for example, learning about the seasons and the weather in EYFS as a building block to the Year 1 Science curriculum. Please visit our EYFS page to find out more.
