  • Key Worker Information

Sun 22 Mar 2020 Nikki Ward

We will be opening the school as it is normally from 8:50 – 3:20. However, we respectfully ask that parents allow children to enter themselves via the pod at the front of school, wash their hands in the staff toilets and then go to the main hall to be registered. It may be worth sharing with your child, that this may not be taken by their usual adult.

Children are welcome to wear their own clothes instead of uniform if they prefer during this exceptional period of schooling.

The children will be split into EYFS/KS1 and KS2 groups and will be taught the activities that have been sent home for other children to complete. They will also have the opportunity to do other activities throughout the day. We anticipate that they will have break and lunchtimes as normal.

At present Dolce are offering a limited service so it may be prudent for you to supply your child with a packed lunch on the days they are attending.

We are obviously aware of social distancing so will make sure that we build this into the logistics of the day.

At the end of the school day, children will be released to parents from the entrance pod and we respectfully ask that parents wait near the Year 2 classroom door for their child to exit school.

We will see how tomorrow works out and may amend and tweak things as we go.

    Kind regards,

    Catherine Mattachine-Lee

    Acting Head of School

  • Coronavirus Update

Thu 19 Mar 2020 Nikki Ward

Following on from our last update, I write to let you know that we have now been instructed to close the school to almost all children after the end of the school day on Friday 20 March 2020 until further notice. Please note that this is a national closure so while it is a challenging situation, we are not alone. We will re-open fully as soon as we are able to and will let you know when this is by email and on our school website; although as yet we obviously don’t currently know when this will be.

As advised by the government, we will do all we can to stay open for the children of key workers (e.g. NHS staff, police, others in frontline services) and children with certain needs as outlined yesterday in the Prime Minister’s briefing. We are waiting for the government to publish more information on what this means, and will be in touch with further information when this becomes available to us.

We have already been notified by the Department for Education that the statutory testing in primary schools will not happen this year so this means the following assessments planned between April and July 2020 are cancelled:

    • end of key stage 1 and key stage 2 assessments (including tests and teacher assessment)
    • phonics screening check
    • multiplication tables check
    • science sampling tests
    • all statutory trialling

Your child’s learning is of course important to us, so we will continue to help your child to learn and further details of what this will look like will be sent out as soon as we have finalised this.

If your child usually receives free school meals we will also be in touch with more information about how we will continue to provide this, we are anticipating that this will happen with support from a scheme that the government alluded to yesterday.

This is as much information as we currently hold and we appreciate your continued patience as we deal with this ever-changing situation. We understand that this latest news will have an impact on you and your family and it is far from ideal, but we will continue to keep in touch with any updates as the situation develops.

Thank you again for your continued support, and we will be in touch with more information when we can.
