These are the words used in our phonics sessions in the order that the children would learn them. The children learn to read these using Fred talk. We spot the special friends, Fred talk and then read the words. We also learn to spell these words in school by pinching the sounds onto our fingers so that we can hear the sounds in the words before we write them.
Red Word Challenge These words are an ongoing reading and spelling challenge for the children to complete in school and at home. Red words are tricky words that we cannot sound out easily. The words are grouped in the order that they are taught in the classroom during Read Write Inc lessons.
