Volunteers

At King's Sutton Primary Academy, our volunteers help regularly by:

 

  • hearing children read
  • helping the children learn their timetables
  • supporting the class teacher in lessons
  • chaperoning on school trips or walks round the village
  • running extra curricular clubs

 

We are very grateful to all our volunteers as they help not only our children but also the staff too!

We actively welcome volunteers into school and you can help in a variety of ways. Lots of volunteers listen to our children read but also support in class in a variety of ways such as working with a small group, cooking, sewing, etc. When a class goes out on a trip the class teacher will also ask for adult helpers too.

 
It is hoped that the many skills and talents of our parents, grandparents and friends in the community can be used to support our children during 'special' days and weeks such as Design and Technology day or Science Week.
 
It may also be possible for volunteers to help run extracurricular clubs or come into school to run a course for one afternoon a week for 5 or 6 weeks. This could be in anything that appeals to the children and which helps to enrich the curriculum such as a handwriting course, craft lessons, sewing skills or salsa dancing! Please do contact the school if you can help in anyway.
 
All of our volunteers will need to complete an application pack - which may require references. They will also undertake an online Safeguarding & Prevent training course and a compete a Disclosing and Barring Service (DBS) application. An induction session will take place before your first placement.
 
Regular help is invaluable and teachers will plan around your support, therefore please try to give as much notice as possible if you are unable to attend. Your help and support to our children and our school is greatly appreciated.
