School Closure Support

Please keep an eye on your Tapestry account.  I have sent you passwords for a number of learning platforms that can support your child's literacy and mathematical development.

Lets get blogging!

Your child may enjoy joining in with these live online sessions at the same time as their friends and classmates.

Many online learning platforms are responding very positively to support children and parents at home. Here are some links to these.  Have fun!

Films for children

We have free, short Read Write Inc. Phonics lessons on Facebook and YouTube for children to watch at home every day until Friday 3rd April.

Films will show at the times below and be available for 24 hours.

  • Set 1 Speed Sounds at 9.30 am (GMT)
  • Set 2 Speed Sounds at 10.00 am
  • Set 3 Speed Sounds at 10.30 am

Films for adults

The films below show parents and carers how we teach children to read and write with Read Write Inc. Phonics.
If your child is in a school that teaches Read Write Inc. or if you have bought a parent pack, the films will help you and your child practise together at home.

During school closure, we will continue to update this page with films and useful resources.

If you have a question for us, please get in touch via our Facebook or Twitter pages and subscribe to our YouTube channel.

Mathematics

We are working on numbers to 20

  • recognising numerals
  • counting objects in a straight line and in a mixed group
  • saying the number names forwards and backwards
  • saying the next number from any given number
  • saying the number before any given number
  • adding objects to totals within 14 or more

We have been recognising amounts when they are arranged in regular patterns such as on a dice, or in a 10 frame or as a Numicon plate

When 10 is represented by a Numicon Plate or 10 frame pattern, we do a speedy count, when we don;t need to count from 1, but can count on from 10.

We are also learning about time including

  • the days of the week
  • what can we do in 1 minute
  • what can we do in 5 mintues
  • what do we do at different times of the day

Numbots

All of the children in EYFS have a login to this super website.  I will send it to you all on your Tapestry Account.

Aim to  play in Story Mode for three minutes four to five times a week, to get the best out of NumBots. Little and often is key (spaced practice is more effective than blocked practice).
