Welcome to King's Sutton Primary Academy on behalf of the PTFA (Parent Teacher Friends Association).
As a parent or guardian of a child attending the school, you are automatically a Member of the Association along with past pupils, past parents, grandparents, friends, staff and governors who help organise events, both fundraising and social. The more the merrier!!
What does the PTFA do?
Our main objective is to assist the school advance the education and experiences of our children. We support this by working towards raising money to provide equipment and opportunities for our children which the school could not otherwise afford. The PTFA also has a great social aspect and it's a fantastic way to get to know other parents. We also try to encourage a sense of togetherness by developing the relationship between parents, pupils, staff and the wider community. There are many ways that you can get involved whether you bake cakes, run a stall, join the committee or just attend events you will be making a vital contribution. We hold regular, informal planning meetings that are open to everyone. Please feel free to come along as we would love to see you there and warmly welcome both new faces and ideas!
How can we find out more?
Each year in September there is an Annual General Meeting to which all parents and staff are invited. This is a good way of meeting people for the first time and hearing about the PTFA achievements and plans. Committee Meetings are held roughly every 5 or 6 weeks during term time either straight after school or in the evening but you don’t need to be a committee member to help out. Come along to a meeting to find out more or look out for our updates in the school's weekly newsletter. Newcomers will be made most welcome.
Planning & Organisation
In an informal atmosphere, the committee openly discuss activities and generate new ideas. It is at these meetings that school projects are considered with a view to PTFA funding. Meetings generally start at 3:30pm or 7:00pm and last for just over one hour. They are usually held in one of the classrooms or at the local pub. We have a friendly relaxed approach to our meetings and welcome anyone to come along to see for themselves. Parents will be notified in advance of the meetings via the school newsletter.
Being Part of the PTFA team at King's Sutton Primary Academy
Will give you lots of pleasure and enhance your family’s relationship with the school. Mums and Dads, Staff and friends all combine as individuals to form a friendly school community and as Year 6 parents leave the school, so new Reception parents join. Everyone is made welcome at any stage of their involvement with the school and it is never too late to get involved. We are always on the lookout for committee members with new and fresh ideas or helpers to run a stall at a fayre for an hour or whatever you can put in – it will be appreciated.
How to contact your PTFA Committee
The easiest way to contact us is to leave a message with Nikki in the School Office by popping in or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org . A committee member will then contact you as soon as is possible. Thank you.
Over the years the generosity of all those associated with King’s Sutton Academy has enabled the PTFA to donate many thousands of pounds to worthy projects, such as:
The Outdoor Classroom, Mathletics Online Resource, Storage Equipment, Reading Scheme Books, Playground Rules Signs, and resources & equipment to support; Numeracy, PE, Music, Phonics and Literacy.
We also raise money for the fun little extras such as Christmas parties and gifts, Year 6 leaver’s year book and farewell evening, chocolate Easter treats and much more!
Fun & Social Events
It's not all about raising funds all the time. The social events are equally important and give the children and adults opportunity to enjoy many friendships at King’s Sutton. The school Disco for instance is very popular for all the children and the yearly Summer Fayre is a great day out for everyone. King’s Sutton Primary Academy PTFA has a remarkable record when it comes to fund raising. This success is firmly based on the team spirit which is much in evidence at all the events, whether it is for fund raising or, just as importantly, a social event where everyone can let their hair down! You can be part of this successful team. In addition we hold occasional Mufti Days which raise money for designated charities and also for the benefit of our children. People have been very creative in coming up with new ideas to run alongside the tried and trusted events. All ideas welcomed!!
